Decorating the Thanksgiving Table

Thanksgiving is almost upon us. Halloween is long gone, and the smell of pumpkin pie and turkey roasting will soon be here in no time. This year we will not be hosting Thanksgiving, which could explain why I’ve already started decorating for Christmas! Last year we hosted and I was absolutely in LOVE with my Thanksgiving table decor! The Thanksgiving table was ALMOST too pretty to eat at!

Although I love the warmth of fall colors, I really wanted my table to incorporate colors like greens, tans, and whites- carrying this color scheme throughout. I also wanted to create a space where my guests and family could gather and enjoy each others company without moving anything or changing the decor. All in all, I was so enthusiastic with how the table turned out, I thought I’d share with you how I created this gorgeous table-scape for our Thanksgiving feast!

To create this look, I cut some beautiful hydrangeas from our garden and let them dry out in an arrangement for a couple days. Once the hydrangeas had dried out I layered them along a long wood serving board or paddle, like this one, that I had placed in the middle of the table. I then added some miniature white pumpkins to give the table that festive, Fall feel.

I love the low centerpiece because when I think of Thanksgiving I think of taking your time eating, mingling, and really enjoying the company and ambience that surrounds you. When the decor is kept at a lower level, this allows for conversation and laughter to happen! It’s inviting and no one needs to move a flower arrangement or large candle to see one another. A low maintenance center piece is key for a successful Thanksgiving dinner. The host is already busy enough cooking and cleaning, It’s a welcome opportunity for them to enjoy themselves.

I wanted candlelight and the fireplace to take center stage for lighting up the Thanksgiving table. To achieve this romantic feel, I used these small tealight candle holders sprinkled throughout the hydrangeas and pumpkins. It really lit up the table and created this glowing affect that I find so appealing, and your guests will as well.

Beautiful crystal wine glasses add that little bit of height that is needed. The way the candle light hits off the drinkware to add this warm sparkle is simply stunning! The water glasses are ones that I’ve had forever and I use them all the time because I just love the texture of them. Plus they are a very, very light green, which flowed with the color scheme I was going with. I always prefer my drink ware to have a little character. It makes the table-scape that much more unique and fun.

For me, monogramming is everything! It adds a very personal look to the table. I had gotten these napkins monogrammed a couple of years ago and use them for almost everything I host. They are a very neutral color so when I combine them with a colored table cloth or flowers, they look like they belong. If there’s one thing you need to make a custom, stunning Thanksgiving table it is to add something monogrammed into the mix! You will use it time and time again and it is so special having something personalized to use for family gatherings. These napkins, as well as this wine cooler and wood serving board are a few fun monogramed items that would make for a great addition to your Thanksgiving table!

There are many ways you can put napkins on the table when setting it, but for how casual the flowers and pumpkins were, I wanted the napkins to be placed a little more formal with pewter napkin rings. These napkin rings are beautiful and give off a somewhat vintage vibe. I am all about mixing and matching tones and looks. There are so many beautiful napkins rings that you can use for the Thanksgiving table, I especially love this one as well as this one here.

Finally I had these beautiful placemats that my Mom gifted to me that were the perfect color to add to my Thanksgiving table. I love the cool design of them and they were also a great alternative to a tablecloth which is more formal. I wanted the wood of the table to show through to create a warm, Fall, feel but I also wanted to dress it up with the unique and rich design of the placemats. These placemats are gorgeous, as well as these and these! Not only placemats, but beautiful chargers can be used as well! There are so many options for achieving this look for your Thanksgiving table!

Setting the table for Thanksgiving should be a joyful endeavor! It will be a place where you will be making memories with loved ones and enjoying a tasty feast! There are so many different looks you can go for, but I especially love this elegant, yet warm table setting that I created last year. It really came together so naturally. Below I’ve gathered a few decorative items as well as serveware peices that would be perfect for creating an enchanting Thanksgiving table-scape! Hope you enjoy and I hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
